  • Know how many dengue patients are detected each year since 2018.

Dengue, which affected 1,974 people in the district in 2018, has been under control for five years. That year, 53 infected patients died, according to the Ministry, and since then no deaths from dengue have been confirmed. The number of patients with the disease, transmitted from person to person by the Aedes mosquito, has also continued to decline over the past year. From a scientific point of view, the reason is the development of immunity in humans against the dengue virus. Indeed, in 2018, 51,894 fever patients were discovered in the district, of which 6,606 were considered suspected dengue patients. Dengue fever was confirmed in 1974 by the ELISA test.

Since among the four dengue viruses, D-2 and D-4, the two most deadly, were active respectively, herd immunity developed against both. At the same time, the workers assigned within the municipal body are starting mosquito prevention activities from May itself. This is why the disease does not progress even after its onset. In the past, mosquito coils or liquids were ineffective on mosquitoes, they still are today. But dengue cases have decreased.

Responsible people began to act: the dengue epidemic so shook government and private sector employees that all 12 months were active for prevention. The activity of those responsible further intensifies during the rainy season. In addition to fogging and spraying in the morning and evening, habitats suitable for mosquitoes began to be destroyed. A campaign is underway to eliminate larvae and adult mosquitoes.

^ Dengue season begins with rains in June. The disease can be easily avoided by immediately controlling the fever that appears this season. Because the sooner he will be identified. The sooner we can prevent its spread. Because mosquitoes transmit this disease from one person to another. Once identified, the disease can be stopped by isolating the affected patient. -Dr. JP Meshram, CMHO,
