The court acquitted the fifth accused Gaurav, a resident of Barra for want of evidence. The prosecution charged them all under sections 302/201/364 A/120B. /109 CIB. The case was committed to the sessions court on February 19, 2014. According to ADGC Shiv Bhagwan Goswami, one Ravi, a resident of Janta Nagar Kachchi Basti Ganda Nala Pulia, informed the police on June 4, 2013 that the corpse of a man wrapped in a cloth, lay in Ganda Nala. When Govind Nagar police station in-charge Tej Bahadur got the information, he had the dead body removed from the nullah. The police, after completing all legal formalities, sent the dead body to the post-mortem house of Lala Lajpat Rai to verify the cause of death and registered the dead body as unidentified. On June 4, 2013, one Shiv Asrey Singh filed a report with the Govind Nagar police, alleging that his son Jitendra Singh, 19, had left since 10 p.m. on June 2, 2013. When he did not return, he tried to contact him on Jitendra’s mobile, but it turned out to be switched off. He tried his best to locate it, but to no avail. The next day, he again contacted the Govind Nagar police station and inquired about the unidentified dead body. When the photograph of the dead body and the clothes were shown to him, he identified the dead body as that of his son Jitendra Singh. He claimed in his complaint that his son was kidnapped by someone for ransom and was later killed. The ADGC said the names of the accused were revealed through a detailed report of the call. Police seized mobile phones used to send ransom messages. The accused, after administering a strong sedative to the victim, killed him and dumped his body after wrapping it in a sheet and stuffing it in a plastic bag in a nullah.
