: Construction of 10 elevated stations on the OMR IT corridor between Taramani and Sholinganallur covering 10 km under phase 2 has started. Workers have started building the station pillars, which will be located under the viaduct where the tracks will be laid. Land acquisition is also underway for the construction of station entrances/exits. The stretch from Taramani Metro to Sholinganallur Metro, likely to be ready next year, is part of the 45.4 km Corridor 3 from Madhavaram Dairy Colony to Siruseri Sipcot. A Cmrl official said construction work on the stretch is progressing at a rapid pace and they have so far constructed 191 of the total 449 pillars and installed 65 of the 450 ‘U’ beams on top of which the tracks will be laid. The elevated line is constructed at a height of approximately 13 to 24 m in the center of the road. “The actual construction of the station could begin in June before the onset of the southwest monsoon. The IT corridor on the OMR will be connected by a 20 km elevated line from Taramani metro to Siruseri Sipcot. . The section was divided into two and separate contracts awarded. While the construction of the Taramani-Sholinganallur line is underway, work is stalled on Sholinganallur-Siruseri Sipcot due to difficulties in awarding contracts.
