Also, according to disaster management rules, before the monsoon season, the streams and drains of the city are cleaned by the municipal corporation. But this year, even though the rainy season has arrived, the cleaning of sewers and pipes has not yet started.
Meanwhile, the tendering process for this work is in the final stages and as it is the code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections, it has been informed that the municipal officials have said that they would give orders to contractors for this work. works after obtaining permission from the collector out of necessity.
During the rainy season in the city, pipes and sewers become clogged, causing flooding and water seepage into citizens’ homes. The municipality therefore cleans streams and sewers before the monsoons.
Funds have been allocated for this purpose in the municipal budget. For this work, the contractor is appointed by the Municipality through a call for tenders. This time, the Municipal Corporation has floated two tenders for cleaning the drains.
However, no response was received from the contractors. After announcing the tender for the third time, a contractor responded. The process of reviewing sewerage and drainage tenders is ongoing.
Will it really be cleaned up or will the city fall?
Last year, the amount of rain remained minimal. But it rained a lot during the Ganpati festival. The road under the viaduct had turned into a river because of this rain.

There are around 41 streams and drains in the city and encroachment is seen at many places. In some places the flow has been blocked and diverted, while in other places the drains have been buried and constructions have been carried out, so the question arises as to how these streams and drains will be cleaned.
